Earth Trust: The Broad Arboretum
Sunday 27th July
This picnic and tree tour is lead by our resident horticulturist John Brannan, who had a hand planting these trees 30 years ago! It is no wonder they are so beloved to him.
Broad Arboretum is home to every tree species native to Oxfordshire, along with recent introductions such as walnut, sycamore and chestnut. With all the species clearly labelled, it’s a great place to learn your leaves!
This guided talk and picnic is for supporting members and sponsors and their children. Doggies welcome on the lead.
Tour starts at 12.30.
Rendezvous location is the Earth trust centre car park at OX14 4QZ.
Please bring a picnic, cake and lashings of ginger beer and, if it’s raining we can shelter under the beautiful trees.
Wear long sleeves and trousers to avoid any lurking horseflies, also appropriate footwear for a country walk.
We will walk down to the Arboretum for our picnics and then tour the arboretum, 60-90 minutes. Then we can climb the Wittenham clumps to take in the panoramic view of south Oxfordshire, the Thames and Chilterns and then maybe finish with some refreshments at a local pub?
No charge but donations always welcome to the trust.
