After spending ten years working within the education sector as an Outdoor Learning specialist and then within FE Horticulture, I eventually made the resolute decision and quit teaching in order to set up as a gardener⦠and Iāve not looked back since!
Much of my passion for horticulture stemmed from my general interest in the natural world and love of the outdoors ā itās an area that absorbs my attention and that I never get bored of. I therefore try to garden organically and sustainably wherever possible and use natural pest and disease controls that are less harmful on the environment. No matter the size of garden or style, Iāve always found huge satisfaction in helping clients create beautiful outdoor spaces but equally enjoy restoring others and seeing a garden come back to life. Ultimately, I want every one of them to love their garden and see beauty in it; for it to be a place where they can retreat to or enjoy throughout the year.
At home, my inside spaces are crowded with houseplants and I grow a range of edibles outdoors, packing 20+ heirloom tomato plants onto my tiny patio each year, growing squash across the shed roof and squeezing pots of salad leaves into any space available! I also really enjoy taking cuttings and propagating a wide range of plants. Itās safe to say my miniature greenhouse works hard year-round and is always stuffed to the brim!
Iām currently kept fairly busy looking after some lovely gardens on a regular basis, however please do still contact me for availability as things are forever changing. Generally I tend to leave lawns and hedges for others and focus mostly on borders, but happy to do these too. Itās also worth noting that Iām very happy to companion garden and love it when garden owners work with me!
Iād be particularly interested in hearing from anyone whoād like help with the redesign of borders in their gardens or would like some help with planting design.
